The Opportunity

The Department of Decision Sciences in the School of Business invites applications for an entry-level, full-time, tenure-track appointment in Management Science at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2026, subject to final budgetary approval.

The Department of Decision Sciences is an interdisciplinary department within the School of Business, with faculty members specializing in quantitative research methods, supply chain management, operations research, economics, insurance and risk management, data analytics, and decision research. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the department’s focus on excellence in undergraduate teaching and in conducting high-impact research.

You will teach our existing undergraduate courses in management science, information systems, and business analytics, and help develop additional courses in this area. Your primary area of research can be aligned with management science or a closely related field. As a faculty member in the discipline, you are expected to be active in building and fostering industry relations and in promoting the student co-op program within Alberta and beyond.

 

Qualifications

You must have, or be close to completion of, a terminal degree in Management Science or a closely related field. You should provide evidence of an ongoing research stream in management science or a closely related field such as business analytics, technology management, information systems, or decision sciences. Additional areas can include artificial intelligence, financial management, economics, and blockchain technology. Candidates with professional/industry experience in the Canadian context will be highly desirable.

You will submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching dossier (including your teaching philosophy and recent teaching evaluations), statement of research interests, and a sample of your research work. In your application, please provide the names of three referees.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the Department Chair to provide three (3) letters of reference sent directly from referees.

Only selected candidates will be required to submit official transcripts sent directly from the institutions where you completed your degrees.

Salary

Commensurate with qualifications and experience. New hires will normally be placed within the first 8 steps of the Assistant Professor salary table.
